On October 17, 2025, Air France inaugurated its new lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, marking the airline’s first dedicated lounge in the United States, a space designed entirely around the concept of French hospitality.
Located in Terminal 5, the lounge operates daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., in partnership with the Global Lounge Network. Access is granted to Business Class, Flying Blue Elite Plus, and eligible KLM passengers. Covering 470 square meters with 105 seats, it offers a panoramic view of the runways and a serene pre-flight experience.
Atmosphere and Design
Designed by Air France teams in collaboration with SGK Brandimage, the lounge combines French elegance with modern design principles and natural light. The shades of blue, luminous whites, and touches of red create a refined and tranquil atmosphere.
The décor pays tribute to the airline’s historic winged seahorse emblem and vintage posters that reflect Air France’s rich cultural heritage. Soft, enveloping furniture ensures maximum comfort, while the large bay windows flood the space with daylight.
Gastronomy and Sustainability
At the heart of the lounge lies the dining area, which accommodates around 40 guests and features a large communal table for a more convivial atmosphere. The menu follows the fine French dining tradition, with dishes such as boeuf bourguignon, country-style chicken, and chocolate mousse with caramel cream.
A strong focus is placed on sustainability. Air France prioritizes local and seasonal ingredients, minimizes food waste, and promotes sorting and recycling. Water fountains are available to reduce single-use plastic consumption.
The bar area, inspired by the grand Parisian hotels, offers a festive and sophisticated ambiance, serving champagne, French wines, and spirits, either staffed by a bartender or on a self-service basis.
The Flying Blue Ultimate Experience
Flying Blue Ultimate members enjoy access to a private area with four comfortable seats designed for privacy, calm, and convenience, while still being close to all main lounge amenities.
Comfort, Technology, and Service
The lounge has been designed to meet the diverse needs of travelers:
- Relaxation areas with ottomans and seats facing the runways.
- Workspaces with a soundproof booth for private calls.
- Free Wi-Fi, numerous power outlets and USB ports, TV screens, and digital press access via the Air France Press app.
For greater efficiency, the entrance features eligibility kiosks allowing quick and easy access for travelers.
Air France’s Presence in Chicago
During the winter season, Air France operates up to seven weekly flights between Paris–Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) using the Airbus A350, further strengthening the transatlantic connection between Europe and the United States with one of the fleet’s most efficient aircraft.
The new lounge at O’Hare captures Air France’s vision of an all-encompassing passenger experience, where luxury, design, and sustainability coexist in perfect balance. It stands as a true expression of the airline’s identity: “France is in the Air.”
