Condor has announced a significant expansion of its Crete network for the Summer 2027 season, introducing a brand-new direct connection between Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) and Chania (CHQ).
The new service marks the first-ever nonstop link between the two airports and further strengthens Western Crete’s accessibility from Germany.
The new Münster/Osnabrück – Chania route will operate twice weekly, providing travelers from northwestern Germany with a direct gateway to one of Greece’s most popular island destinations. The service forms part of Condor’s broader strategy to expand its presence in regional German markets while increasing connectivity to Crete.
To support the expansion, Condor will base a second Airbus A320 at Münster/Osnabrück Airport for the Summer 2027 season. The additional aircraft will enable the airline to significantly increase its leisure operations and further strengthen its footprint in the Mediterranean market.
Crete remains one of the airline’s key leisure destinations, and the launch of the new Chania route reflects the island’s growing appeal among German holidaymakers. The direct connection is expected to attract visitors from the wider Münster, Osnabrück and North Rhine-Westphalia regions, offering faster and more convenient access to Western Crete.
Alongside the new Chania service, Condor will also strengthen Crete’s overall connectivity by introducing three weekly flights to Heraklion, further expanding travel options to the island during the peak summer season.
For Chania Airport, the new route represents another important addition to its expanding international network, reinforcing Western Crete’s position as a leading Mediterranean tourism destination. The increased connectivity is expected to support both inbound tourism and the local economy while offering passengers more direct travel options from one of Germany’s strongest outbound leisure markets.
